Alfred got a lot of heat from producers over his conversation with Vanity Fair, and the actor isn't going to make the same mistake twice.
The media went berserk after the confirmation and Molina had to face the wrath of Marvel bosses. Alfred Molina's Doc Ock, an antagonist from Sam Raimi'sSpider-Man 2, appears in the trailer, showcasing his signature metal tentacles. The trailer also hints that Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin, Jamie Foxx's Electro, and Thomas Haden Church's Sandman will all come back. Additionally, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, who both previously portrayed Spider-Man, are rumored to return.

In a recent interview with Radio Times, Molina was asked once again if he would be returning to a future Spider-Man film. This time around, though, Molina jokingly said his new answer is simply to neither confirm nor deny anything. Though Marvel Studios and Sony haven’t officially confirmed Molina’s return, fan rumors have been swirling for awhile on a Doc Ock reappearance in the Tom Holland-led film. Part of the draw of the movie for many fans is the fact that opening the Multiverse allowed for characters from previous iterations of the world of Spider-Man to find their way into the MCU. Not only do actors Maguire and Andrew Garfield (who appeared in Sam Raimi'sSpider-Mantrilogy andThe Amazing Spider-Manseries respectively) return as their versions of Spider-Man, but many villains return as well.

His full last name is the very Greek "Keshishoglou," but he often shortens it to make things easier. Unlike previous iterations of the character, the MCU depicts Flash Thompson as a smug rich kid, which was reportedly intended to represent more modern bullies. While this new version of Flash doesn't pick physical fights with his classmates, he does tease and attempt to humiliate Peter. However, when Flash learns Spider-Man's true identity in No Way Home, he publicly supports Spidey and insists that they've always been best friends. There's even a gag where he writes a book about their friendship, although the book ceases to exist after Doctor Strange's spell is cast. Alfred Molina compares his original appearance as the classic villain Doctor Otto Octavius in Spider-Man 2 and his reprised appearance in No Way Home.
People were really excited to see Molina and other former 'Spider Man' cast members in the movie. The film turned out to be extremely successful and everyone applauded Molina's performance. However, it seems Molina was too excited to be a part of the franchise again and accidentally told someone from the field of media about his involvement with the movie.

The end result was a Multiverse blockbuster packed with excitement, nostalgia, and fan-favorite characters, which changed the game of the MCU forever. Celebrating three generations of Spider-Man meant not just bringing the three legendary Peter Parkers together, but also reuniting heroes and villains of the past for the first time in years. Molina confirmed he's returning to play the role he originated more than 15 years ago in "Spider-Man 2." Though the trailer de-ages Molina's Doc Ock, it's doubtful the film will do the same for Maguire. It's been 17 years since Doc Ock faced off with Maguire's Spider-Man in Spider-Man 2, with the villain ultimately sacrificing himself at the end of the movie. Because of all that time, a little de-aging technology makes sense for Molina's villain to return to his past form. However, there's a significant reason why Marvel probably won't de-age the potentially returning Peter Parker.
While fans were most excited than angry with the news, apparently, Kevin Fiege didn't take Alfred's admission lightly. Much of the No Way Home cast considers the film the conclusion of a trilogy, though Marvel Studios and Sony have hinted at tentative plans for a fourth film. A recent report suggested that a fourth instalment is already in pre-production, though this has not been officially confirmed. This followed reports that star Tom Holland had closed a deal for one more instalment in the MCU's Spider-Man franchise.
While many agree that Molina is perfect for the character and will be sad to see him go, at least they can say they got a satisfying conclusion to his story. Molina went on to discuss the moment, which occurred in April 2021, saw Molina reveal that he had been filming No Way Home as his iconic character Doc Ock. That was news to everyone and resulted in fans celebrating his return, while those at Marvel Studios were not happy to see the news leak.

Heavily inspired by the comic books, it scraps any Stark Tech - which often gave Spidey's MCU costumes an overly busy aesthetic - and features two logos that appear to be at least somewhat inspired by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Variants.
